We welcome walk in patients
Baldivis Family Medical Centre is about 15 km south of Kwinana Town Centre, roughly 18 minutes down the Kwinana Freeway or Mandurah Road. We see patients from Kwinana, Medina, Calista, Orelia, Parmelia and Wellard.
If you are comparing doctors in Kwinana for a sore throat, a script repeat or a medical certificate, use a bulk-billing practice close to home.
What we have that a small local practice usually does not is more than a dozen medical specialists consulting on the same site as our GPs, a treatment room for minor surgery, and cardiac testing done in-house. That is the reason many Kwinana patients drive here.

Specialists, minor surgery and cardiac testing on-site, about 18 minutes south.
In an emergency, call 000 or go to your nearest emergency department. Chest pain, trouble breathing, severe bleeding, stroke signs or serious injury will not wait for a GP appointment.
Over a dozen specialists consult at the practice alongside our nine GPs: a cardiologist, two paediatricians, two psychiatrists, a nephrologist, a gastroenterologist, a plastic surgeon, an orthopaedic surgeon, psychologists, a midwife and a physiotherapist.
To get the Medicare rebate on a specialist appointment, your GP must write the referral before you attend. Referrals expire, and they cannot be back-dated. If yours has run out, book a GP review first. You do not need to change GPs to use the specialists here. A referral from any practice is fine.
Pathology collection runs on-site Monday to Friday 8:00 am to 4:00 pm and Saturday 9:00 am to 12:00 pm, so blood tests ordered in your consult are taken before you leave.
Also done here: ECG, spirometry for asthma and COPD, pulse oximetry, venesection, iron infusions, wound care, ear syringing, ingrown toenail removal and Implanon insertion or removal.
The one worth a special mention is 24-hour Holter monitoring. The monitor is fitted in the clinic rather than at a hospital; the recording is read by a cardiologist, and for eligible Medicare cardholders, the test itself is bulk billed. If you have had palpitations, dizziness or an irregular pulse, this catches what a 10-second ECG in a consulting room misses.
Our GPs perform full-body skin checks and treat what they find on the same site: cryotherapy for sunspots, biopsy or shave excision for suspicious lesions, and surgical removal of skin cancers under local anaesthetic. No referral is needed. Allow 20 to 30 minutes and book a long appointment.
If a lesion needs more than a GP should safely do, both a plastic surgeon and an orthopaedic surgeon consult here, which shortens the path considerably compared with a cold referral into the public system.
We have psychologists and two psychiatrists consulting on-site, and our GPs write Mental Health Treatment Plans, which is what gives you access to Medicare-rebated sessions.
There is also an 8-week CBT group therapy program running at the practice. Entry requires a referral and a Mental Health Treatment Plan from a GP, then a short individual screening with the psychology team. Medicare rebates cover up to ten group sessions a year, and places are capped at ten people per group.
For anyone who has been told the psychiatrist wait is 12 months, this is the part of the page worth ringing about.
We are a mixed-billing practice. Some patients are bulk billed; most pay a gap on the day and claim the Medicare rebate back.
Standard appointments here are bulk billed for patients under 16, pension and health care card holders, and DVA Gold card holders. DVA White card holders may be bulk billed for covered conditions at the GP’s discretion, and bulk billing may be available for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients.
